Boeing 737 - Type RatingThe aim of the respective training is to fulfill
the requirements of Part-FCL concerning type rating.

Requirements & Course overviewMandatory

oral and written min. Level 4
Valid CPL with ATPL credit or valid ATPL
Valid multi-engine IFR rating
MCC Certificate
Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate

Practical training on APT
Self-study / CBT / Theoretical test
Practical training on FFS / Practical test


The aim of the course

This course is intended to pass the candidate pilot all the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills required to operate the Boeing 737 to the standards required by PART-FCL.

The course is intended for:
  • Commanders for a Boeing 737 type rating
  • Copilots for a Boeing 737 type rating
  • Copilots for an initial type rating on Boeing 737

The Type Rating course can be performed on either an B737 Classic(300, 400 or 500 series) or B737 New Generation(600, 700, 800, 900 series) simulator, however for the first 200 hours of line operations the applicant will only operate on the variant on which he/she did the type rating course. Operation of the other variant can only be commenced after completing the differences course as applicable.

Pre entry requirements

In order to commence the B737 Type Rating course, the candidate pilot must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Commanders
    • ATPL License
    • 1.500 hours experience on multi-pilot aeroplanes
    • 500 hours experience as commander on multi-pilot aeroplanes
  • Copilots
    • CPL License with multi-engine Instrument Rating
    • Having a type rating on a multi-pilot aeroplane
  • Copilots for the first type rating on a multi-pilot aeroplane
    • CPL License with multi-engine Instrument Rating
    • Hold a certificate of satisfactory completion of multi-crew cooperation course(MCC)
    • Have passed the ATPL theoretical knowledge exams as per FCL. 515 ATPL
    • Minimum 70hrs of Pilot in Command on Aeroplanes

Structure and time scale of the course

Theoretical Knowledge Instruction

Aircraft systems self studyaprox.: 80 hours

Aircraft Systems Training and exam: 5 days

B737 Mass & Balance and Performance: 1 day

Low Visibility Operations Course: 4 hours

FMC operation training: 4 hours

Procedures training (CPT) - cockpit mock-upmin.:  5 days
PBN: 2 hours

Synthetic Flight Training

Full Flight Simulator Training: 44 hours

RProficiency Check(App.9): 4 hours

Training carried out in the Aeroplane 1 day

(Including Pre-Flight Inspection training)
