The aim of the course


The objective of TRI course is to provide suitable candidates with the relevant theoretical knowledge and practical training to enable them to instruct on all B737. The course includes ground instruction, synthetic flight instruction and flight instruction relevant to the roles of SFI or TRI. 

The course is intended to provide required instruction for the issue of a TRI rating or SFI Authorization, subject to the Civil Aviation Authority approval. 

The privileges of the holder of a TRI rating are to instruct license holders for the issue of a multi-pilot aeroplane type rating, and the instruction required for multi-crew co-operation. 



Pre entry requirements


TRI Course

In order to commence the TRI course the candidate pilot must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Successfully completed the Type Rating Instructor Ground Phase: Teaching and Learning part as described in TAROM ATO Training Manual
  • Have completed at least 1500 hours flight time as a pilot of multi-pilot aeroplanes 
  • Have completed within the 12 months preceding the application at least 30 route sectors, to include take-offs and landings as pilot-in-command or co-pilot on the applicable aeroplane type, of which not more than 15 sectors may be completed in a flight simulator
  • Have at least 1.500 hours flying experience as pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes


SFI Course

In order to commence the SFI course the candidate pilot must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Hold or have held a professional pilot licence issued by a EASA  Member State
  • Have completed the simulator content of the applicable type rating course at an approved FTO or ATO
  • Have at least 1500 hours flying experience as pilot on multi-pilot aeroplanes
  • Successfully completed the Type Rating Instructor Ground Phase: Teaching and Learning part as described in TAROM ATO Training Manual
  • have completed within a period of 12 months, preceding the application, a proficiency check as set out in Appendix 9 to PART-FCL on a flight simulator of the applicable type
  • Have completed within a period of 12 months, preceding the application, at least three route sectors as an observer on the flight deck of the applicable type

Synthetic Flight Training

Technical Training AMC1 FCL.930.TRI Part 28 hours (2 sim sessions)

Type Rating Instruction under Supervision - training8 hours (2 sim sessions)

Type Rating Instruction under Supervision - evaluation4 hours (1 sim sessions)

Training carried out in the Aeroplane

Type Specific Aeroplane Training (only for TRI)~1 hour
